Aluminium vs UPVC bifolds

Aluminium bifold doors

The most popular choice. Strong enough to carry large panes on slim frames, so you get more glass and less frame. Thermally broken profiles, powder-coated in any RAL colour, with heavy-duty stainless rollers.

UPVC bifold doors

A more affordable option with slightly wider profiles and good thermal performance — best for smaller openings up to four panels.

Configuration options

2-panel for small openings, 3-panel (the most popular) for typical rear extensions, 4-panel for wider openings, and 5–7 panel for large extensions, orangeries or commercial settings. A traffic-door option gives everyday access without folding the whole set.

Thresholds

Standard raised, low-threshold for easier access, or flush for completely level indoor-outdoor access. We advise on drainage for the low and flush options.

Security and glazing

Multipoint locking, internally beaded glazing, toughened safety glass and anti-lift devices as standard. Our installations meet Secured by Design standards, with A-rated glazing as standard.
